Artist's Comments

Composed out of various things; some mouse painting, a human face that's been pushed around a lot :) , and experimental long-exposure photos of jewellery.

I love your photoshop work erin, How many hours goes into a piece like this? I only draw straight into that program. This sort of stuff blows my mind. Keep it up!

Thank you! I can't really say how much time goes into my pieces because they all use previous pieces as part of their material. The main material in this one is somebody's face that's been cloned and liquefied and so on. I'd say it takes at least a few intense hours per variation, not accounting for the making of the sources. :)

Crows can sound very cool sometimes really, especially when they're in great flocks shrieking away. Did you know that baby crows have sapphire-blue eyes? They're so beautiful. But parent crows don't like you getting too close and they're likely to dive-bomb your head. :D

Was the original a photo or a painting? I can't believe there's only a number of hours in there, It looks like heaps of work. How long have you been doing digital art for?

It's hard to say. There are probably some paintings in there, but the main sources were a photo of a woman's face and some photos I did where I dragged my camera over glinting jewellery and made strands of light and so on. The blue parts in 'lady with the blue hair' are from exactly the same sources ;) I've been doing digital art for five years now and I have quite a messed up file system since all my pieces tend to interbreed. Basically I experiment like mad, and keep maybe one out every fifty or so results. So really even though the individual pieces might not take much time, they are the end result of many hours' work of discarded variations. Thanks for asking!

Interesting titles. On the other hand I can see reference of part of humans body scattered all over the composition. Were these human consumed by these so called bird? Is this human try to manifest itself into another form? Or the title have certain meaning that only can be understand by the artist? Nevertheless it is very intriguing piece. I keep wondering what I'm looking at. The shapes and color are very organic and very human. Sensual and disturbing at the same time.

I would recomend to put a brief description to works like this just to give the viewers some kind of clue on what to expect from them. But then again you can always keep it ambiguous and open for interpretation.
